BMW Ghost Immobiliser
The Ghost uses the data bus CAN to communicate with your vehicle. This prevents thieves from replacing the ECU or adding an additional lock to circumvent the security system.
The Ghost is different from other immobilisers because it doesn't rely on key fobs or LED indicators. Instead, it makes use of the buttons on your vehicle to allow you to enter a specific disarm sequence that only you are aware of.
Stop & Start
If you've been in a BMW or utilized its stop-start feature, you might have noticed that the engine continues to run for about 30 seconds after you have released the brake pedal. This is due to the BMW engine management system constantly monitoring your vehicle for a signal from the ignition key, and if this is found it will continue to run. The Autowatch 2 Ghost is a device that prevents this by stopping the vehicle whenever you hit a button.
Our BMW ghost immobiliser is a unique next-generation device that doesn't require cutting OEM wires or adding an aftermarket alarm and key fobs. It is connected to the BMW CAN data network and is programmed with a unique PIN code that is accessed by buttons in your car. This allows you to enter key sequences that aren't available in the normal menus for media. For instance the volume up/down button, or source controls, air conditioning, cruise control and more. The PIN can range between 4 and 20 digits and is therefore difficult for thieves to guess or crack.
In addition to this we can also add a service/ valet mode to the system, this is activated when the car is scheduled for maintenance so that the Ghost remains hidden from the garage. You can do this by pressing the service button 5 times on your infotainment unit (the system will flash with confirmation) and the Ghost will automatically rearm when you return.

Service Mode / Valet Mode
The Ghost is the most popular immobiliser available. It stops your vehicle from being taken by hacking or key cloning. It uses the factory buttons on your vehicle to generate an unique push sequence that only you know. It is similar to the pin code security of your mobile phone. It's incredibly secure, discreet and deters even the most determined thieves!
If you're at home and in a meet and greet situation when you are at a meet and greet, the Ghost can be switched into service mode, which allows you to start your car with your keys normally, however it stops the engine from running until the correct code is entered. This is perfect for those who need to hand over their cars to valet companies or trusted family members and friends. It also lets you get the car into the garage for repairs, maintenance etc without worrying about it being damaged or stolen by a mechanic while you wait.
When the service/valet mode is enabled, your BMW is unable to drive once it has been started. This will stop anyone else from driving it while you're away. After you return, it will return to normal stopping your vehicle from being tampered with or stolen once again.
The Ghost can be installed on any BMW. All you need are the correct keys, because the device does not utilize the original remotes, but can be used in conjunction with them. If you don't want to use a smartphone, or don't feel at ease with it, we can provide an optional Bluetooth tag that can be used to disable the Ghost. This is an extra cost and requires an additional Bluetooth pairing.
Anti-Hijack
With the advent of high-tech thieves becoming increasingly and more sophisticated the security technology is continuing to change, that's why Ghost has created this subtle and non-obtrusive immobiliser. It is designed to stop thieves from adding a new key or replacing the ECU in order to start your vehicle and then drive it away. Ghost links up to your CAN data network, and utilizes the buttons on your vehicle (steering wheel and centre console, as well as door panels) to create an individual push sequence that must be completed before the engine can start.
This will activate the anti-hijack feature and, once it is activated any attempt to start the engine will be stopped. Once the system detects that the vehicle has stopped moving it will honk the horn and flash the indicators, if it fails to identify the correct code it will also stall the engine (where it is). By entering your push sequence or entering service mode, you can deactivate the Anti-Hijack feature. This allows your vehicle to be temporarily started without the need to enter a PIN.
If you have a GPS device connected to your BMW, you can utilize it to disable the Anti-Hijack function to allow you to navigate using your navigation system even when the vehicle is parked. If you own a smartphone, you can also hook it up to your Ghost app to control the anti-hijack function and other functions.

Remote Control
We can connect your Ghost device to your mobile application for remote control of keyless start and go functionality. The system lets you start the vehicle by selecting drive, then quit the service mode without the need to use your key fobs. You can also track your vehicle's location on an interactive map on your smartphone.
The Ghost can be positioned in the dashboard area, or within the centre console. It is completely hidden, tamperproof, and does not require any additional wiring. The device is connected to CAN Data Network of the vehicle (similar to an Ethernet cable) and a unique pin code is programmed into it. The pin code needs to be chosen prior to the engine starting. This will prevent thieves from gaining access to the system using an unauthorized clone or replacement ECU.
If the vehicle is taken away, the Ghost will go into service mode and stop all functions unless you have a PIN number or use the mobile application to disable it. This feature was developed to safeguard your vehicle from high-tech thieves who use relay boxes to take it. It will even stop the thieves from using their mobile phone to turn on your sat-nav or mp3 player to locate your car!
Ghost also stops "Relay Style Frequency Amplification". This is the most frequent way that a vehicle is being stolen with a key-fob that was copied or stolen by hacking. Ghost allows you to prevent this theft by installing a device known as Secure-A Key in your vehicle. The device is inserted into the key-fob of your vehicle and then will disconnect the battery after a few minutes of inactivity, this can be done on the majority of modern PKE key-fobs.
